Dr. Alice J. Cohen is section chief of benign hematology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark N.J. She is the director of the State of New Jersey and federally funded Adult Sickle Cell Program and the Comprehensive Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center. She currently serves as co-chair of the Women and Thrombosis Subcommittee of VENUS group, part of the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society.
Dr. Cohen has participated in numerous clinical research trials seeking to find treatments for individuals with sickle cell anemia, bleeding and clotting disorders, and cancer. She has worked with women with breast cancer for over 30 years. Dr. Cohen is associate clinical professor of medicine at Rutgers-NJ Medical School. She previously was the hematology/oncology fellowship training program director and director of hematology/oncology at Newark Beth Israel for 24 years.
