Patricia (Patti) Engblom is Administrator for Ambulatory Services at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Patti received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and began her career in healthcare as a pediatric staff nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals. She later moved on to a senior analyst position with The Principal Financial Group. Patti expanded her training by returning to the University of Iowa to obtain a Master of Health Administration and then completing an Administrative Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Health System. In her first position at Hopkins, she served as the Administrator for the AIDS Capitation Program within Johns Hopkins HealthCare, where she developed and implemented a full-risk managed care program for Medicaid recipients with AIDS. In 1999, she joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and was deeply involved with the Department of Medicine’s Ambulatory Operations. She provided administrative leadership for regulatory compliance, CUSP programs, and the implementation of new practice models such as the Sickle Cell Infusion Center and Heart Failure Bridge Clinic. She also led the transition of procedure areas to the new hospital building as well as Epic implementation for the department. In 2015, Patti accepted the Administrator role at the hospital where she has partnered with multiple clinical departments to centralize the operations of ambulatory practices.
